Best Language Learning Courses

There isn’t really such a thing as the best course out there.

What does exist is a course which is best suited for you!

You see, each language learning course has their own strengths and weaknesses, and my goal here is to help you find which course is best suited for you!

Want to learn Spanish but have no free time?

Then get: Rocket Languages Spanish.

Rocket is an interactive audio course, which is perfect to listen to while doing other things! I listened to the course on my 30 minute daily walk to and from work and it was great!

You can create a free account and listen to the first 3 lessons for free by clicking the following link: Get your first 3 lessons free!

Looking to dedicate time aside to learning a language?

Then get: Babbel.

Babbel is a great online subscription software which has a wide variety of exercises to help you learn a language!

You can try Babbel’s demo lesson with a free account by clicking the following link: Get your free lesson here!

Want to learn a new language but don’t have much confidence you can do it?

Then get: The Michel Thomas Method on Amazon.

The Michel Thomas Method is a 12 hour audio course. Michel Thomas has this seemingly magical quality of giving students a lot of confidence in their ability to learn a new language!

Considering learning Spanish but not sure if you want to commit to it?

Then get: Babbel.

Many programs have a large initial investment of $200-$500. But if you lose your enthusiasm after 1 month, then you already spent a lot of money, so it’s not a nice situation to be in!

Babbel offers a monthly subscription, so that you can pay 1 month at a time, and if you lose your enthusiasm after 2 weeks, then cancel the membership and you spent a whopping $12.95, so no big deal!

Know Spanish at an intermediate/advanced level and looking to improve?

Then get: Yabla.

Yabla uses a similar concept to my dual translation music videos. They use Spanish videos of ads, news reports and clips from Spanish movies, with English and Spanish subtitles below the video. You can also get explanations of the words you don’t understand by clicking on them.

You can get a free demo of Yabla by clicking the following link: Get free demo of Yabla!

Prefer learning Spanish from a book?

Then get: The Assimil Method on Amazon.

Assimil is a book which many polyglots have used to learn a new language. It comes with a book and 4 accompanying audio CD’s, so you can listen to the language as well.

Auditory learner looking for an audio course?

Then get: Rocket Languages Spanish.

Rocket is an interactive audio course and it’s my favorite audio course! It also has other sections, such as language and cultural lessons, a survival kit, flashcards and a “points” system to keep you motivated!

You can listen to the first 3 lessons for free by creating a free account by clicking the following link: Get your first 3 lessons free!

Visual learner looking for a language learning program?

Then get: Babbel.

I would prefer Babbel rather than Rosetta Stone. Babbel also has images being matched to their words like Rosetta, but Babbel also has explanations of grammar, writing exercises, speaking exercises and other types of exercises to keep things fresh and exciting!

Babbel is cheaper too at a monthly subscription fee ranging from $6.95 – $12.95 depending on your commitment!

Prefer the feel of a language tutor teaching a student?

Then get: Fluenz on Amazon.

Fluenz is an interactive video course, focusing on creating something closer to a “classroom” environment, where the tutor teaches you as if you were getting private tutoring.

You can check the Fluenz customer reviews on Amazon.

Want to learn a new language but don’t want to make a large initial investment?

Then get: Babbel.

Babbel is a great language learning software, and their pricing is on a subscription basis. You can get a 1 month subscription for $12.95, with no obligation to keep your subscription after the 1st month!

The price goes as low as $6.95 / month if you commit for 12 months ahead.

Try Babbel’s free demo lesson by creating a free account using the following link: Get your free Babbel lesson here.

You can also try Duolingo which is free. Duolingo is best used as a supplement, but it’s a very good app considering that it’s free.

Want to learn a language with no books, no memorizing and no homework?

Then get: The Michel Thomas Method on Amazon.

The Michel Thomas method is based on the Michel’s principles of creating an environment with no stress, no anxiety and no pressure, as he says that’s the best environment for real learning to occur. He says the responsibility of learning is fully on the teacher.
